The infantry is the main land combat force and backbone of the Army.
It's equally important in peacetime and in combat. The Infantryman's
role is to be ready to defend our country in peacetime and to capture,
destroy and repel enemy ground forces during combat.
Promotion Points for MOS 11B Infantry range from 450 to 550 for E-5
Sergeant and 550 to 650 for E-6 Staff Sergeant. Soldiers in MOS 11B
must work on the following areas in order to meet the cut off scores:
Civilian Education- Bottom line is that you need to have college
credits under your belt. CLEP, DANTES, college classes and college
credit for military training will get you the points that you need to get
promoted at 1 point for every credit under the new promotion system.
Military Awards- Soldiers can get awards by volunteering, win Soldier
Boards, PCS, deployments and impact awards for major achievements.
Military Education- Warrior Leader's Course (WLC) and the
Advanced Leader's Course (ALC) along with Army Correspondence
Courses and classes listed in ATRRS such as Unit Armorer and
Combatives will help you stack up your promotion points.
